Students are encouraged to sign up for the Coursera course Interactive Programming in Python. This course is currently being offered as part of the programming occupation and some 8th graders are working on it independently.  The math teacher has taught used this course many times with Upper El students with great success.

Some reviewers say that the course is outmoded.  But what isn't outmoded is the problem-solving and the introduction to object-oriented programming.  This course is the first course in a 7 part series
